When Mason went down for his nap today Ella was still a fairly unmobile baby but by the time he woke she was cruising everywhere! In literally the snap of a finger all of the practice and attempts she had made in the last month came together and now she is unstoppable. Looks like the fun has just begun.

Today marks 5 months since our little Ella officially joined our family. She has been an incredible addition and more amazing than we could have dreamed. She is still the happiest baby and is constantly reminding us with her contagious smile. She is laughing constantly, interacting with her brother and desperately trying to crawl! Frank and I love watching how she will follow Mason's every move with her eyes, laughing at almost everything he does. Encouragement that Mason does not need! Watching the sibling bond grow between my children has been the most amazing gift. Ella has given so much to our little family in such a short time but most of all she reminds us daily of how much love we all have to give and of all the good we have in our lives. Frank and I thank God everyday for giving us two happy and loving children, who are both so full of life! I will keep everyone posted on her crawling which I am afraid will be within the next month; she is determined to keep up with her very busy brother!

Sunday, September 18th, we, along with our wonderful families, welcomed Ella Christine into the Catholic Church. My sister an her family were in Michigan visiting my parents so we embraced the oppertunity to bring everyone together. We hosted the event at my parents house and Church in Michigan which was special for me because of all the time I spent as a teen in that Church. We were very honored to have Franks parents and the Morris family make the trip to Michigan to take part in this blessed event. We celebrated with a delicious Frank Pruce brunch al fresco (thanks to the beautiful weather and Frank's amazing cooking talents), followed by mass and then the ceremony. We were a little worried taking four toddler boys to mass but were all pleasantly surprised by their claim, quiet behavior. Unfortunately this calm ended with mass and the baptismal ceremony was a little more chaotic. But our children have made our families come together more often in the past few years and it wouldn't have been the same without their energetic personalities. When choosing Ella's Godparents the only two people who we felt would embrace the role fully with unending love were our sisters. So, Ella has two amazing Godmothers; Aunt Jessica and Aunt Stephanie! The day could not have been more perfect and we are so blessed to have so much love in our lives from our wonderful families. Frank and I are very grateful knowing that Ella has so many loving people in her life.

Ella has finally gotten to the stage where we can really have fun with her. We took the kids to the Children's Museum this week and she loved looking around and smiling everyone. It was the first time at the museum that she really noticed her surroundings. She even got to play dress up in the Barbie Exhibit. We also bought her an exersauser this week and she loves it. She is really enjoying being up right and not lying down. She has also been fascinated with all the toys it has around it. She is still an amazingly well behaved baby and such a joy!

Ella went in the pool for the first time this weekend thanks to the beautiful weather August has brought us. We all enjoyed welcoming her to the fun and it seems as though we have another water lover on our hands!

Later in the day Nana and I took the kids to a neighboring park. Ella showed off her giggle as she enjoyed the swings and then appeased her Mama with a quick photo shoot.

Mason, of course, took advantage of every second he had at the park. He has become so adventurous and brave on the playground equipment that he does not have time for Mama's photos.

Mason and I tool Ella on the swings today and she absolutely LOVED it! She giggled for the first time yesterday during her bath and perfected it today on the swing! It was so cute to watch and we didn't want Frank to miss it so we took him back when he got home from work. So far it seems that she is a lot like her brother.

State Fair Time!

This year we decided to treat Mason to a ride on the state fair train. It was about a 30 min train ride each way and very exciting for Mason who loves trains. (Maybe a little too long of a ride for his age but fun nonetheless!)

Mason really enjoyed all the exhibits and attractions this year. He enjoyed seeing all the animals but was not too fond of the cows. I thought they were pretty smelling myself so I was proud to see some of his Mom in him at the fair.

He loved riding the pony! He had a smile on his face the entire time and kept telling me how much he loved me! I was delighted to see him so happy and so proud of how brave he is when it comes to horses. He definitely did not get that from me!

In keeping with tradition, Frank and Mason took pictures with the cut out displays. I have really enjoyed watching Mason grow as he bonds with his Dad in this way. Maybe next year Ella and I can start our own tradition!

Mason's favorite fair food so far.. popcorn! Frank bought him a corn dog and I bought him cotton candy, he wasn't thrilled with either!

"Mason, what rides would you like to go on?" He said that one... it went upside down! He's nuts. Good thing he is not tall enough!

Rides for younger kids but still a little bigger and faster than I thought he would dare. Who is this brave kid? Definitely NOT his Mothers son. He held his arms up, woo hoo'd and giggled the whole time! I have never had as much fun on rides as I did enjoying them with him.

He went down this very fast and high slide three times and cried when we moved on.

Of course Ella Bella was there too! She had as much fun as a three month old can have at the State Fair!

The Cake Stalker Strikes Again!

A friend of mine turned thirty this week and we went over as a family to celebrate with dinner and cake. Of course Mason spent most of his time 'looking' at the cake and asking me to cut it. After she blew out her candles us adults were distracted in conversation long enough for Mason to cut himself a piece of cake! Although it was also quiet frightening, I was pretty impressed that Mason was able to cut the cake and do it the correct way. Ironically, after all that, he barely ate the cake. I guess the important thing was that he was happy!

Today I took the kids to the Children's Museum just the three of us. Mason and I had not been without friends or family since Ella was born so it was a great treat for all of us! Mason love exploring everything he wanted and spending as much time on each exhibit as he needed. The only thing I made him do was visit the Barbie exhibit for "Ella". It was very exciting getting a glimpse into the fun us girls will have as Ella gets older. Mason was such a good boy the whole trip! After 4 hours we called it a day and headed home. Mason feel asleep immediately in the car and I am sure he was dreaming of the next time we visit.

Since becoming a Mom, one of the things I cherish most is sharing my children with my parents. I have been back to Michigan more in the past two years than I probably had in the eight year prior. But lets face it, besides your husband, who else loves you kids and thinks that as wonderful as you? Thankfully my parents only live 4 hours away and since Mason was born we have been blessed to see them about every 6 weeks. This past weekend my Dad came to visit and was taken by how big and happy our little Ella has become. Mason was very excited by his visit and enjoyed showing off. I really love how much Mason loves my Dad! When he left on Sunday Mason was sleeping and when Mason woke, the first thing he did was asked for Pompa. When we told him he went home, Mason cried and ran back up to his room! Luckily for Mason, we are taking Ella to Michigan for the first time next week so he will have plenty more time with Pompa and Nana!

The End of an Era for Papa Frank!

On Juy 20th of this year Frank said goodbye to his 20's and hello to the beginning of the best years of his life! Even though Frank was not looking forward to turning 30 like I am, I know that he will soon realize that this next decade will bring so many amazing memories and a new sense of calm to his life.

Despite his insistence to not celebrate the occasion (he married the wrong woman for that) we had a small celebration at home. Mason loved Papa's birthday! He had me buy the cake and frosting a week early because he obviously knows the importance of the birthday cake. He really enjoyed grocery shopping for the celebration and spent all day on the 20th telling everyone he saw that it was Papa's birthday. Unfortunately Frank worked late all week so we were not able to have our family dinner and cake celebration until Sunday. Luckily, it all worked out and ended the week perfectly! We are so blessed with our wonderful family.

Happy Birthday Papa Frank! We love you and look forward to spending your 30's with you!

My friend Kristine's little boy/Ella's future boyfriend Rylan turned 1 last week and we went over today to celebrate. It had only been a couple weeks since we had seen them but Rylan and Ella had both changed so much. Rylan was full of personality, talking constantly to us and walking! Ella didn't look near as tiny next to him like she did last time and he was definately more interested in her. Of couse when she is finally big enough to play with him, he will only want to play with Mason but I am sure he will favor her company one day!

We are so blessed to be able to celebrate these special occassions with such good friends!

Yesterday, Nana Sue talked us all into fighting the heat while enjoying an afternoon at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Although I am not an animal person, I knew Mason would love the experience so I did what any mother would do and took one for my kids. And even though I sweat through my shirt, I along with the rest of the family, had a great time. The boys loved all the animals, running through the exhibits and just being together! We probably burned off 2000 calories between all the walking and sweating but that was all lost when we stopped for ice cream on the way home. It was the perfect finally to the perfect family trip! I am pretty sure all of you reading this are thinking 'who knew those Pruces were so much fun?'

Every July Poppy Frank's moms side of the family host an annual family picnic. This was the second time Mason and I attended and the first time we went as a family. The boys had a blast running around wild, playing with all the kids and eating a lot of junk! There were two other babies, including Franks cousin's 4 month old, so it will be exciting to see them all walking around and noticing each other next year. We had a very pleasant time catching up with Franks Aunt and Uncle and cousins Sherri and Robert. Its funny the things we find ourselves doing and actually enjoying when we become parents!

Our first road trip as a family of four was a success. Late Friday afternoon we headed east to meet up with the rest of the Pruces in Pittsburgh, Pa. With plans to attend the family picnic, visit with Great Grandma and just enjoy the time away from everyday life together, we embarked on a six hour car ride. Frank and I decided it would be in our best interest to rent a full size suv because with two adults, a busy toddler, newborn, lugage, toys, golf clubs, a bike and double stroller, the jeep was not big enough! Plus we were able to put Mason in the third row and not have to listen to his movies for hours. We arrived at our hotel right around midnight, unloaded the car and went straight to sleep!

The family fun began immediately the next morning when we realized Evan's hotel room was right across the hall from ours! The boys were in heaven and seeing my kids happy makes me happiest of all. Great Grandma couldn't believe how big the boys had gotten and how much they talk now. She seemed to be most taken by little Miss Ella who peacefully sat in her lap as the boys energized the room. It is amazing how small two non stop toddlers can make a room feel. The kids plus all eight adults of us, Great Grandma, Uncle Jon and Aunt Sharon made for a full house. But as the saying goes, the more the merrier and it was great spending time with everyone!

So now as we drive home five days later, a car full of stuff, new memories, a soundly sleeping baby, a tired toddler who already misses his cousin and two exhausted but happy parents, we are so grateful to have each other and all the love of our family!

Ella is 2 Months!

Now that we have had our little Ella Bella in our lives for 2 months, we are all amazed that we lived so long without her! Mason is still loving having a sister and is getting more gentle with her each day. If she is crying he runs around trying to find a 'baby bobble' for her. He is constantly 'petting' her and kissing her. Although his love is very enduring to me, sometimes Ella wishes he would give her a little more personal space. We are lucky she is such an easy going, well tempered baby. She is smiling all the time now and cooing in conversation. I do not know who gets more enjoyment out of her talking, me or her! I do not remember Mason smiling this much in the beginning or being so happy all the time! If she is this happy at 2 months, I cannot wait to see what she is like as she gets older. Maybe she is just happy because she knows her Mama has been buying her some really cute outfits for the months to come!

Frank took Mason to the driving range yesterday afternoon for the first time. He has been looking forward to sharing his love of golf with Mason for a while now and we finally felt he was ready. I was a little nervous that our energy filled toddler would interrupt the relaxing atmosphere that men say golf creates but according to Frank it wasn't a bad experience. They both came home happy and are anticipating many more golf memories in the future. I , personally, look forward to Ella turning 2 so I can share one of my favorite pastimes with her: mani/pedi's!

There is a new, amazing park in Fishers that we have been going to a few times a week. It is huge with so many activities that the kids are always busy and can play for hours. It is always more fun for Mason when Evan meets us there because the boys run around, chasing each other while screaming. At least they are outside. I just had to share these pictures of the boys because they are having so much fun!

We were very lucky to have my sister and her two boys visit us from Seattle a last week! When Mason and Gavin saw each other at the airport (hey haven't seen each other in a year and a half) they ran into each others arms. It was very cute especially because Mason really had no idea who Gavin was because he is too young to remember their previous visit. My parents also made the trip from Michigan to take advantage of all four of their grandchildren spending together for the first time. It was a great visit and very busy. We had activites planned everyday and naps were not always a priority for the boys. It was fun showing them all the things we love about Indianapolis and we hope they had enough fun that they will consider coming back. The worst part of the trip was knowing that it could be a while before we are all together again.

I didn't get too many pictures because Mason and Xander cannot sit still long enough for the picture and Gavin never wanted his picture taken! Boys!

I cannot believe how the time has flown, Ella officially turned 1 month on June 3rd! Just 5 weeks ago we were holding a newborn and now she is starting to look more like a baby and even starting to get some cute chubby rolls. She is eating great and has gained almost 2 1/2 lbs since birth (shes 9.6lbs). She has her eyes open a lot more now and is enjoying looking around at her new world. I know she will be rolling over soon and then the days of leaving her on the couch will be over. I am definitely cherishing the newborn stage much more this time around and not as anxious to see her grown up. Honestly, what am I going to do with two kids talking my ear off all day? Mason, my talker, is still embracing his roll as big brother. He never wants to be too far from her, loves to kiss her and is very concerned when she cries! I am so proud of how well he has handled the change from only child to big brother. Now if only he would talk a little less and listen a little more! All in all, life is very good for the Pruce Family and we are looking forward to updating everyone with all of our summer fun.

Memorial Weekend/ Nana Sue's Birthday!

Nana Sue's birthday fell on Memorial Day weekend this year; race day to be exact, and for those of you not from Indiana, I am referring to the Indy 500. What did that mean for Nana Sue? Nothing special except that she was blessed with being able to listen to the greatest spectacle in racing, via the radio as it is blacked out locally, all afternoon! Luckily for us, and all the race fans, the Indianapolis weather was beautiful and sunny, so we spent the day enjoying the pool. This was Mason's first pool experience of the season and I was not sure if my little water monkey would remember his fearlessness of last summer. Although he was a little timid at first, he was swimming, with the help of the floaty and Papa, out of the pool himself by the end of the day. I am excited to start the summer outdoor fun that we shared last summer but am still a little leery of the pool's safety. I am hoping swimming lessons and wearing pool safety gear will keep us all a little more at ease this summer. Here are the first of our many pool pictures this summer season. Sibling Love

Having a sibling is the greatest gift our parents can give to us. I love knowing that my sister will always be my closest friend and there is nothing that can break our bond. Most of my childhood memories include her and today she is the first person I think to call when I need an ear to listen. Although it will be different and interesting to see how the sibling relationship between my children (brother/sister) will unfold, I am so excited to watch them share and learn from one another. From the moment Ella was born, Mason instantly loved her. He did have some jealous issues with the attention he was not getting from me but he never held it against his sister. He tells her that he loves her all the time, is always looking out for her, giving her kisses and telling me that she is cute! Nothing has made me more happy then watching him with her. I know this is only the very beginning of a lifetime relationship but I am loving every moment of the beginning and looking forward to all stages to come!

Piggy Bank!

Mason has been asking me for a piggy bank for a while now and I finally broke down this week and bought one for each of the kids. Mason was in charge of choosing the right piggy bank for him and Ella and he chose the baseball one for himself, no surprise there, and the flower one for Ella. When Papa came home later that day, he gave Mason a bunch of half dollar coins he had been saving for the kids. Mason very proudly put them in his and Ella's banks and has been going around the house looking for any spare change he can find. Mason has been so excited by his piggy bank that he wants to do everything with it; including sleep! Lets hope that Mason and Ella are able to save a lot of money.

Broad Ripple Art Fair

For the third year in a row, Mason and I attended the Broad Ripple Art Fair together. This year, as with last, we went with Papa and, of course, our new addition, Ella. One of our favorite perks of Frank not working in the restaurant industry has been attending events like the Broad Ripple Art Fair as a family. I was very excited to take Mason this year because I knew it would be the first year he would actually enjoy all the children's attractions. Luckily I was right and he loved every minute. He completely enthralled by watching all the people, eating candy and kettle corn, getting a snake tattoo and riding in the wagon with his sister. Of course his favorite part was when we met up with my friend Auriel and her niece, whom he absolutely loves, Victoria! It was a great way to kick off the summer and we look forward to attending next year!

I have some great memories bonding alone with my Mom; going shopping, getting lunch, seeing a movie. It has really formed our relationship over the years and we still enjoy our Mommy/Daughter time! I really hope that my kids can share that same special bond with me and Frank because I really value individual parental bonding.

So yesterday Frank and Poppy (Frank's dad) took Mason to the local air show. I decided to sit it out because I thought this would be a great opportunity for the guys to start a new tradition. Mason seemed to have a great time! He said that he saw air-planes (two words) and told me that they fly. Evan met up with them at the air show too which always makes any outing better. Of course, when they got home, Mason had to tell me immediately that "Eya pushed him!" and this information trumped all air show stories. Oh, Boys!!! They will never need a brother with the relationship they share.

While the guys were out, Ella and I had a little bonding time of our own. We ran a couple errands, did a little shopping (mainly window) and of course, Ella slept. Even though I was really looking forward to the quiet time and running my errands without a fight, I missed my favorite little man. All the quiet made me uncomfortable! So even though we all had a good time, we were also all happy to be reunited!

As it was Mothers Day, I was determined to get a few good family photos. I wanted to dress the kids up in nicer than everyday outfits for my day. Ella, of course, cooperatively wore what I picked out for her but Mason, who is currently into choosing his own clothes, refused! It ended up working out fine because Mason was sleeping during the pictures and when he woke, he did not want to have his day captured forever. So unfortunately there are not any pictures of Mason but Ella needs some special individual pictures because her brother as SO many!

This year was a very special Mother's Day because I was able to spend it with both of my babies! Ella was born a little early so I wasn't originally sure if I would be able to spend the day with her. With my family complete, the day couldn't have been more special. To top it off, my Mom was visiting this weekend and able to spend the entire day with us. Frank started off our morning on a sweet note by making my favorite breakfast; fresh fruit crepes! (I knew marrying a chef would pay off) The rest of the day was spent with family and relaxation! I hope everyone I know was able to spend their day with the ones they love. Happy Mothers Day!

We Couldn't Ask for Anything More

We have had Ella in our lives for almost 48 hours now and we cannot believe how blessed we are as her parents. Having baby number two has been so enjoyable. I am not worried about the same things I was worried about when Mason was a new born. Instead, I can actually sit back and enjoy her. Also, I learned from a friend that if you ask to leave the hospital early, if all is well, they will let you. We left within 24 hours of Ella's birth and were able to spend the day, resting, at home yesterday. Ella has been amazing! She sleeps well, eats well and is easily soothed. And although she is not a fan, she is fun to dress up! So far Mason is taken with the 'baby', as he so loving calls her, and enjoys holding her, petting her and just loving on her. If they are in the same room, he wants to be close enough to see her and make sure she is doing okay. The best part is watching her reaction when he holds her. She looks at me as though she is in doubt of his ability to safely hold her! She must have great intuition. This morning the two of us spent a while just admiring our new addition. He is most definitely going to be a very protective older brother!

Ella Christine Pruce was born yesterday, May 3rd 2011, at 2:18pm. She weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and was 19.5 inches long. She was exactly 1 lb lighter and 2 inches smaller than her brother; so to us, she is tiny! I was not sure how I would possibly be able to love another child with all the love I have for Mason but luckily she is the easiest little girl to love! I cannot believe we have lived so long without her. The birthing process and adaption after have been so much smoother and more enjoyable the second time around... what a relief! We cannot wait to share her with everyone we love and I will be updating frequently with pictures. Thank you everyone for the warm wishes and caring thoughts as we have transitioned through this time.

Despite the fact that I was not very interested in celebrating Easter this year, I sucked it up and made the best of my uncomfortable, exhausted state. Plus I couldn't deny Mason the fun of spending the afternoon with his Cousin Evan and Grandparents. The boys had a great time together and especially enjoyed looking for eggs and getting lots of treats. Mason chowed down on ham, green beans and bread. I am pretty sure Easter dinner is favorite of all the holiday meals. Mason was thrilled to see Uncle Ben, especially because he came in bearing and huge chocolate bunny and a stuffed duck. It was also special to see Nana and Poppy because he had not seen them in a few weeks. All in all, it was a very enjoyable Easter. Thanks Aunt Jess and Uncle Kyle for hosting!

Mason Loves a Good Party!

Mason went to his friend Hayden's birthday party on Saturday and was so excited to yell 'Happy Birthday Hayden'. He had so much fun playing with Hayden, playing outside, finding eggs, eating candy and most importantly, eating the cake! From the moment the cake was put on the table, he watched over it. A tough job but someone has to do it. He was so excited he even helped Hayden blow out her candles. It was a great party and he had lots of fun. When we left he gave Hayden a big hug and a kiss on the lips! (First official girl kiss) Thanks Skoglund's for a fun afternoon.

I had my 37 week appointment today and we decided to set an induction date. Even though a part of me wanted to wait it out and let her come on her own, it is a lot more convient for us to know the date so we can plan. This way we will be able to make sure my parents are here to watch Mason and meet their first grand daughter when she enters the world. Also, we can figure out what time Frank can take off from work and I can make sure I am ready. (Or as ready as I can be!) I was originally hoping for May 6th as our induction date, which is a Friday but I didn't think she would let me schedule it that soon. To my surprise, she offered up May 6th and May 3rd! We chose May 3rd because it works best for Frank and his work. I am so excited to have an actual end date established but at the same time, I am also freaking out a bit because that is only 13 days from today. Only two weekends left with just the three of us... WOW! It is amazing how long pregnancy seems and then when the end approaches, you wonder where the time went. So unless she decides to come early, (which I would love for her to come late next week so she can have an April birthday and diamond birthstone, you know, the important things) Ella Christine Pruce will be born May 3rd, 2011! We cannot wait to meet her and welcome her into our lives with love and a lot of hugs and kisses!!!

Belly Bump and Big Brother Take One

Before our little Ella arrives, I have been hoping to get one of those classic belly bump photos with the big sibling touching the belly. I have been wanting to attempt this photo for weeks but every time we are camera ready, I forget. So as we were out on this beautiful day, I remembered to take advantage of the situation so we tried to get the photo. But of course, when I was ready, Mason was not! This was the best we could do. I am surprised we even got him this close to my belly. Perhaps we will get the opportunity to try again but we only have a few weeks left so it is not looking hopeful. Truth be told, this is a "real" picture of Mason and his feelings towards my growing belly. Although I do think he is excited for his baby sister, he is not as interested in feeling her inside me as I wish he would be. Hopefully our photo's taken after Ella is born will be more successful.

Spring Fever is Here!

We have been so excited by this come and go spring weather and only wish the rain would stop long enough for us to really enjoy it! But after a long cold winter, we will take what we can get for now. As we have been taunted by the weather, Mason has been able to enjoy his love for all things sports! Yesterday I took him to Target to buy his first baseball tee. Mason was so excited that he insisted on carrying the box, which was almost the same size as him, through Target and when we got home, we had to immediately put it together and he played with it until it was time for bed. He even woke up extra early this morning wanting to go outside and hit baseballs. It has been very entertaining for Frank and I to watch our little athlete as he takes on different sports and focuses so much of his attention and energy on these sports.

Today we went to Cousin Evan's neighborhood for their Easter egg hunt. We were hoping to get the boys in the Easter spirit and prepared them for the big hunt next weekend. They really enjoyed collecting the eggs but especially loved the candy they found inside the eggs! Mason was afraid of the Easter bunny but Evan loved him. He even gave him kisses! Next Sunday will be very fun for the boys as they will have more eggs to find and Easter baskets to discover.

Mason and Evan at the Castle Park

Mason and Evan played yesterday at the Castle Park near Evan's house! Aunt Jess told the boys in the morning that we would take them to the park after Evan got out of daycare and all Mason talked about all day was going to the park with Eya. Luckily it was beautiful outside and the park completely lived up to all the expectations the boys had. Evan keep telling Mason to follow him! They were very cute together, as always, and loved being big boys at the park this year. The most exciting part was seeing the train pass, not only one time, but two times! The boys were in absolute heaven and both kept asking and signing for more, more, more! These guys are going to have an amazing summer together and I cannot wait to watch them.

First Zoo Trip of the Year

Yesterday Frank and I took Mason to the Zoo and although it was still a little too chilly, it was really exciting to see how much more Mason appreciated the Zoo in a short 6 month period. He could say the names of the animals, looked forward to each exhibit and especially loved petting the sharks! The Indianapolis Zoo is great because is it small and does not take too long to get through. Also, it has a fun play area with picnic tables to bring your own lunch. It was a fun day for all of us and we were all ready for a nap when we left! It is amazing to think in a couple of weeks, there will be 4 of us at the Zoo instead of 3.

Finished Playhouse

So the real man of the house, Papa, came home and helped my little man of the house put the finishing touches on his playhouse! Mason's favorite part is the tool area. It is very cute to watch him as he sits out there and hammers in the play nails. Unfortunately today has been the first nice day since the playhouse was finished but we have a lot of nice days a head of us! For now, Mason say's that he does not want Ella in the playhouse. Man of the House

Frank and I decided to buy a playhouse for Mason because we need plenty of outdoor act ivies to entertain him at home this spring/summer. Although I am not one to get stuck at home, I want to be prepared in case we are not able to get out as much as last year. Mason is really into pretend play right now and I love having toys that will enhance his creativity. Not to mention, with two kids we will definitely get our monies worth!

Mason and I went to Toys R Us this morning to see if they had the playhouse I had my eye on in stock and luckily they had one left! We spent what time we had at home today putting it together. Although we still have to finish it tomorrow, (I will post pictures of the finished product tomorrow) for now I wanted to show what a hard worker Mason was while we began our project. He definitely proved to us that he can step it up as man of the house when Papa is at work!

Mason Goes to Preschool!

A couple weeks ago we enrolled Mason in Fishers Pointe Cooperative Preschool. As a cooperative preschool, it is based on parent participation. All the parents are required to help in the class at least once a month, bring snack and help with other aspects of the preschool. This was a huge bonus for Frank and I because we love being hands on parents and with Mason only being 2, we felt it was important for us to gradually work him into a preschool routine. So far he has loved all the actives that preschool offers but is not quite ready to be away from us the whole time. He will finish off the school year one day a week for an hour and a half and then next year he will go two days a week for two hours. As I shared our preschool experience with my mom today, she reminded me that I was the same way and would cry when she would leave. And even though I was only two, I remember the crying! Frank says he also remember crying at preschool so I am pretty sure there is no hope for our kids. I am hoping the more comfortable he gets the less time we will have to spend there. For now it works out fine but I am sure when Ella arrives, mom will need the break! Until then, it has been fun watching him play with the other kids and get to do things he cannot do at home; like paint! My little baby has grown up just in time for the arrival of his sister.

I Couldn't Be Prouder!

Mason surprised Frank and I yesterday and woke up as an official big boy! It all started in the middle of the night when he woke me up letting me know he had to got potty. I was so shocked and amazed that I jumped out of bed and ran him to the potty like is wasn't 2:30 in the morning. Then, a litttle while later, when we were all three upstairs getting ready for the day, he decided it was time and he pooped in the potty all by himself. After much celebration (consisting of dancing, cheering and a lot of jumping up and down) we headed out to begin our day. We were out from 8:30 till 12:30 with no (as Mason would say, Ta da!) accidents! He successfully went to the bathroon at Mass and the Childrens museum a couple of times. Frank and I were so proud of our little man we even made a stop on the way home to get him a congratulatory treat. I was especially proud because of all the independent steps he took that day to become a big boy. I have spent the last week and a half trying to give him the tools he need and apparently he was listening because the moment he was ready to be a big boy, he did it!

Potty Training Begins!!!

So we all woke today refreshed (well maybe just Mason) and excited (well maybe just me) for our official start to potty training! I showed Mason is potty training sticker chart, his big boys undies and his prizes. He immediately took of his pants and diaper so he could use the potty and get a prize. Ha ha! After that he asked me to put a diaper on, first time he has ever done that. When I explained to him that he was going to wear undies today he said 'OK' and came down and put them on. So far, one hour in, we are all still in tact but we will see how the day/weekend plays out!

Day 1: We survived day 1! The hardest part was just having to stay at home all day. I was literally watching the clock all afternoon and counting the hours till Frank got home. We had a couple accidents in the morning but recovered quick from them. After his nap, Mason went accident free and even came to me asking for 'undies off to pee pee'. So the day ended strong and I went to bed a very proud Mom! I really hope we can pick up this morning where we left off last night. The good news is we get to leave the house for 1 hour today so I better choose our outing wisely.

Day 2: Well Day 2 started with a bang!!! Mason, who didn't poop yesterday, pooped in the potty all on his own. Frank and I were downstairs when all of a sudden Mason headed upstairs on his own. After a few minutes Frank went up to check on him and found that he had just finished pooping in he potty. He called me and we immediately went into full celebration. You have never seen more excitement over poop. Mason was most excited about the prize he got for his actions. Turns out all he needed was a little privacy... can you blame him? It is going to be a good day!

Ella Bella in 4D!!!

We went to have a 4D ultrasound today and were all very excited to see how our little girl is growing. All morning Mason was talking about seeing Ella Bella on the TV and then, of course, the minute the ultrasound started he was ready to turn Ella Bella off! Regardless of his lack of interest, Frank and I really enjoyed seeing our little girl moving and living peacefully inside of me. On Tuesday Ella decided to move from head down to the breech position so her hands and feet were blocking her face in a lot of the photos. Luckily we were able to see enough to know that she was the cutest little girl we have ever seen. Haha! She definitely has some hair on her head, chubby checks and my nose. I am still hoping she gets her Papa's lips!!! Only two more months until we get to hold our little Ella and hopefully by then, Mason will not want to put her back!

Masons New Sleep Plan

When Mason was sleeping in his crib, he was an awesome little sleeper! I would put him in his crib, kiss him and he would go to bed on his own. Then my world was turned completely upside down when he learned to crawl out of the crib! He no longer would go down easily and wanders into my room almost every night. ( He has always been keen of sleeping with Mom but the more pregnant I get the more difficult it has become.) Knowing that Ella is going to be here sooner than later, I decided to enforce a new, strict sleep routine to get us all back to sleeping regularly before we interrupted again! (Yet hopefully Mason will remain in his sleep schedule when Ella arrives.) My plan with Mason is to tuck him into bed for his naps and bedtime after our normal routine, then close the gate and leave him to go to sleep on his own. For his naps, which will now be everyday at exactly noon, if he refuses to go down, then he will be left to rest in his room until 2:30. And at night he will be going down at 7:30pm. My hopes are that by the end of a week, worst case two weeks, Mason will be going to down with ease for all naps/bedtime and staying in his room all night long. I know it is going to be difficult for me and Frank to revolve our days around his nap but I really believe that a consistent sleep schedule will be exactly what Mason needs! I will update this post daily with our success stories! Good luck Mason :)

Had to cover Ella's crib to keep him out!Day 1: Today was a great success especially for the first day. Mason went down for his nap at 12:00 and although it took him 45 min to fall asleep on his own, he finally did and stayed asleep for 2.5 hours! Bedtime was a little more dramatic with some crying and yelling for Mommy to get him out but the good news is that it only took about 15 mins for him to fall asleep on his own. Keeping my fingers crossed for a solid sleep through the night!!!Day 2: Last night was a huge success! Frank and I put Mason to sleep at 7:30 and he fell asleep shortly after on his own. And then, drum roll please, he slept thru the night in his bed!!! When he woke up, he stayed in bed, calling my name, until we went in to get him. It was a very proud moment for Frank and I. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will have a repeat tonight. Now if I could only get Ella out of my ribs so I can breath! Day 3: For the second night in a row, Mason went straight down for bedtime and slept through the night!!! I think he is getting the hang of this. Day 4: Today was a huge success because for the first time, Mason went straight down for his nap and his bedtime. Yay! He did wake up once in the middle of the night but when I went into him he right back to bed. Thurdsay was such an awesome day that I wont hold it against him. Plus Ella had me up most the night because I couldn't get comfortable. Sleep training on hold for the potty training weekend. We do not want to overwhelm him. He is still sticking to his routine but we are giving him a little room for error.

Getting Mason Ready to be a Big Brother!

I have had two goals for Mason to accomplish before he becomes a big brother; sleeping on his own and being potty trained. As we are now hitting the two month point, I am ready to take on the challenge and help Mason as he gears up for his new role. I am setting aside the next two weeks for us to accomplish our huge goals, which means we will be very restricted to the house. I am putting Mason on a new, strict nap and evening sleep schedule. Until he is 100% transformed into his new patterns, he will be sleeping only in his bed. Also we will not be leaving the house this upcoming weekend to get him into full-time potty mode. It is going to be a huge commitment for all of us but we have to start getting the whole family ready for our big change. If we can all stick to our plan then Mason should be able to get comfortable in his new patterns by the time Ella arrives. I will keep everyone posted with his progress and we ask for everyone to please be patient with us as we will be spending much time at home!

Mason Visits the Dentist

We took Mason to his first dental visit today and it was a great success. The worst part for Mason was the waiting but when his time came, he was the perfect dental patient. We tried to have him sit in the dental chair by himself but he needed a little support so he ended up in my lap. The first thing they asked him was "Do you brush your teeth everyday?" and "Do you brush your teeth in the morning and before bed?". He answered "yes", without hesitation, to both questions which made Frank and I laugh. Partly because we were not sure if he really understood the question and also because they took the two years answer as truth! Although his dental report was an A+, saying he was a great brusher and had no cavities. Luckily for Mason, Mom knows how to brush well for him but if he is anything like his Mom, I am sure he will end up with his share of cavities over the years to come. Mason's favorite part was the goodie bag, which consisted of a tooth brush, toothpaste, floss and a Bernstein Bears book. I am anxious to take him back in 6 months so he can show off his dental experience to his sister!

Pregnancy Photo 30/31 Weeks

Although I cannot imagine that anyone really loves the whole pregnancy photo experience, I do regret that I did not take any pictures of myself when I was pregnant of Mason. Although I was a little heavier then I wanted to be, I still wish I had visual memories from that period of time. So that being said, I had Frank take my first official pregnancy photo this morning. So here it is, for all to see, now and in the years to come. Besides, in typical girl fashion, I am sure Ella will be more interested in photos of me pregnant with her than Mason. My next pregnancy photo goal will be a picture of me leaving for the hospital, about to pop! I am sure this will only happen if I am induced again but we will see.

Do the... Potty Dance!

Although we have had a little Mason potty for over 6 months now, he has shown no real interest in using it. I have kept it out in the bathroom as a constant reminder to him that it is ready when he is ready. A few times I have tried to put him on the potty and bribe him into going but he just fights it until he is off. I had given up all hope of potty training him before Ella gets here and accepted that he will do it when he is ready. The last thing I wanted to do was traumatize him by forcing the issue.

When I heard that the Children's Museum was hosting a performance of The Potty Dance put on by Huggies Pull Ups and Ralph's World, I thought it would be a fun experience for me to share with Mason to share and so we went with no expectations. The performance was more like a concert and was so much more fun then I had expected. Mason, like his mother at concerts, squeezed his way into the front row and was very intrigued by all the instruments on stage. Huggies provided blown up guitars, maracas, and decor to get the children more excited for the performance. Mason sat in my lap anxious for the fun to begin and of course, when it did, he refused to dance! About half way through he started clapping after songs and shaking his maraca but when we left the event, I did not think it had any impact on him in regards to potty training. Then when we got home, as Mason was getting into the bath, he walked over to his potty, lifted the lid, stood over it and peed in it for the first time! I was, and still am, so proud and excited for him. Funny how these things happen when we least expect. I did not put a diaper on him for the next 2 hours and he went over to the potty at least 6 times before Frank got home. Then the minute Papa walked in the door, Mason ran to the potty and showed off his new big boy skills. For the rest of the evening, he ran around singing Potty Dance and dancing! Now I am just going to keep my fingers crossed that this will continue into tomorrow and we can start the real potty training process. It is funny what makes me so happy, proud and excited these days but my little big boy going pee on the potty was definitely top on the list. I will keep you posted on any progress he continues to make. Congratulations Mason Pruce! You are growing into such a big boy and I love the person you are becoming.

Ella is Definitely an Ella!

Although my motherly instinct has told me from the beginning that this baby is a girl, it is always reassuring to have a definite confirmation. Today we had our 30 week doctors appointment and an ultrasound just to check on everything. With only 10 weeks, which still seems like forever, Ella is looking healthy and busy. She is head down, all parts in the right place and moving constantly like always! This time she was not shy about showing off her girly parts which was exactly what we wanted. Her face is starting to fill out and her lips look very similar to her brothers at this stage so hopefully she will have her Daddy's lips! She also looks like she might have chubby checks. As of today she is measuring right on track at 3lbs. Mason was excited to see his sister but asked for the remote halfway through the ultrasound so I think he would have preferred the shorter version. It was definitely a great way to start off the month!

Making Room for Baby and a Big Boy!

As Mason and Ella will be sharing a room, I really wanted to find a cute way to incorporate both genders into one room. Luckily the room is a good size for two and there is a little cove that fits a crib perfectly. Mason is very excited about his new big boy bed and loves his rocket ship decor. He even says rocket ship now which is very cute! The best part is some of his stars even glow in the dark. I had a great time putting together his big boy area and was lucky to have his help. While I did not imagine I would have Ella's area ready this soon, I couldn't finish Mason's side and not get hers done too. It has actually been a really good thing because it seems like Mason is going to need these last two months to get use to her things and start leaving them alone! He will tell you that it is Ella's bed and Ella's things but still does not understand that means NO Mason. Hopefully he will have a little better understanding by the time she gets here. This room has been the most enjoyable thing I have done and is the best of both worlds as I got to make special areas for my son and daughter. Decorating for both genders at the same time was more fun then I imagined. I really hope Ella feels at home in her pretty n' pink area and cannot wait to bring her into it.

She's Coming and We're Getting Ready!

After much deliberation, Frank and I have come to a final decision on a name for our daughter. In May we will be welcoming Ella Christine Pruce to our family. Ella has been our front runner from the moment we discovered she was a girl but as I was determined to not make a rash decision, we also considered a few other names along the way. I cant explain the feeling but no other names seem to fit this baby. She just feels like an Ella. Also, for the past few weeks Mason has been referring to his sister as Ella so we figure he was the deciding factor as changing her name now would be too confusing for him. You can call her Ella, Ellie, Elle or as Mason and I commonly refer to her, Ella Bella!

I cannot believe we have only 12 weeks left. Which in one breath sounds like forever but I know it will be here before we know it. I get more and more excited with each passing day and cannot wait to see Mason with Baby Ella. I look forward to watching as their relationship matures over the years and to see how he takes on the role of her protector. Ella has been a very active baby in the womb and while it is so wonderful to feel her constantly moving inside of me, I also fear that she will be overly active like her brother! We are prepared for any challenge that she may bring to our lives and look forward to bringing her home. As we get closer and closer to her arrival, I will keep everyone posted with any news and pictures. We appreciate everyone keeping Ella in their thoughts and prayers as she prepares to enter this new world!

Mason's party this year combined this all of his favorite things; bowling, dinos, friends, pizza and cake! I have really enjoyed watching Mason learn to build friendships and play with others over the past year. It is amazing how he went from not really playing at his party last year to running around like a crazy boy with his friends this year. All the kids seemed to have a great time and I went home exhausted so I would say that is the sign of a good party. Mason was lucky to have all his family there too. (Except my sister and her boys, Gavin and Xander, who live in Seattle and were missed.) What a lucky boy to have so many family and friends who love him. Thanks to everyone who helped make it special! And thank goodness birthdays only happen once a year.

Mason's Big Birthday!

Although I am pretty sure everyday is a Mason day, I wanted today, his 2nd birthday, to be an over the top Mason day. To do this, we had to plan as many Mason approved activities as possible and what better way to start off the day then with his favorite breakfast... pancakes!!!

After breakfast we went to the Children's Museum, Mason's favorite place, to see the Dinos and have more fun in the new Dora and Diego exhibit. Mason was so busy there and did not stop for almost two hours. We practically had to drag him out when it was time to leave.

After the museum we took Mason to the pet store to get his first fish! Because he has SO many toys, I definitely did not want to get him anymore and thought this would be a fun gift. So far they are still alive but it will be interesting to see how long they make it.

Later in the afternoon we picked up Evan from daycare and took the boys to Chuck E Cheese. Mason has been wanting to go forever and I have been telling him I would take him for his birthday as my way of putting it off. Well, the time finally came and what kind of Mom would I be if I didn't stick to my word? The boys enjoyed the new experience and hopefully it is now out of Mason's system!

Finally we ended the day at home with pizza and cake! Mason had a great day and love all of the special attention he received. I love nothing more than to see my little guy happy and enjoying life but I must say I am so glad I have a day off before his big party! I need the rest!!!

Go Steelers Go!!!

Frank was able to share his love for the Steelers this evening with Mason as we all watched the Super Bowl. Frank prepared him with appropriate sayings to yell and every time Frank would cheer or clap so would Mason! Unfortunately, when he actually watched the game, he would cheer for the other team too but he is still learning. I have never seen a toddler who likes to watch sports as much as Mason; it is very entertaining!!!

Children's Museum Hosts Dora and Diego!!

The Children's Museum open a new exhibit this weekend featuring Dora the Explorer and we had to take Mason to see what great activities there would be for him to explore. It was so impressive and Mason loved the hands on experience. We will definitely be back later this week for his birthday. We have now been members of the museum for a year and have no doubts about renewing our membership. It is a fantastic educational yet fun experience for all.

Taking on the Mall

After being inside for 1.5 days (we did go to McDonald's play area and Target yesterday after naps), we had to get out this morning and the boys were really needing to run around. It was kinda exciting for me because I was able to try out my new double stroller! Frank and I took them to the Disney Store and tried to buy them each a little stuffed animal but they turned it down and requested pretzel instead!

Art Time

When we were trapped inside I decided to have art time for the boys. Thanks to my sister, we made play dough one day and they both really enjoyed using the tools. Evan wanted blue and Mason wanted green so we compromised with a little of each. I was surprised at how mess free this art time was, although we were prepared for the worst!

The Storm is No Joke!

I definitely knew that this was going to be a big storm but in my 15 years in the mid west, I have never seen ice like this. Amazingly we are only half way through the storm and supposedly the worst has yet to come. I spent a good 30 minutes this morning, maybe longer, layering the boys in clothes and winter gear so we could take on the ice in the brief break we are seeing before the storm returns. From the moment we walked outside there was no real walking, more like skating. Even in the grass, our feet, including Franks, did not break the surface of the ice. There has to be at least a half inch of ice covering the ground and they weather report is predicting up to an inch more. The boys did a great job of staying on their feet and enjoyed the break from our morning inside. The also enjoyed walking around, picking chunks of ice and trying to eat them. It definitely was worth the work of getting them both ready, especially because they are now, both soundly asleep!

Hibernating for the BIG storm!

So as we prepare for what is supposed to be a crippling storm, I am hibernating inside with 3 boys! While there was a time when I would have been thrilled to be stuck indoors with this much testosterone, now I am just preparing myself for a day of fighting, messes and constant clean up!!! We are watching Evan this week because both his parents were sent away for work. Aunt Jess is in Sunny San Diego, reading this post poolside with a margarita in hand, while we are iced inside. I do not know what I am more envious of, the weather or the fact that she can enjoy an adult beverage! Regardless, here we are, inside and making the best of it. As most of you are just starting your day, thanks to my early bird, we have all been up for almost three hours now. I think I might try to take the boys outside before their naps to play, assuming it is not too icy. At least getting them both dressed in their winter gear should kill about 30 mins! So as our day/week progresses, I will keep the blog updated with pictures and news of our happenings. This way Aunt Jess can live it up in the sun and still keep witness to the activity here in Indiana.

I took Mason to MI this weekend to help celebrate my Dad's birthday! Mason had been wanting to go bowling with Pompa (Grandpa Simpson) for weeks so we decided to take everyone bowling on the big day. Unfortunately we could not find a bowling ally in the area that had duckpin bowling (bowling with the little pins and balls) and Mason was not quiet ready for real bowling. Nonetheless, we still had a good time and got Mason very tired for his nap! Now, as I try to prepare Mason for my own birthday by teaching him to say Happy Birthday Mama, he just yells at me 'NO! Pompa'!

Mason had a very successful date this evening with my friend's niece, Victoria! Although this was not the first time the kids have played together, it was the first time Mason was old enough to keep Victoria's attention.(She will be 5 in July) They were adorable together and every time Mason would look at her, he would have a huge smile on his face and a light in his eye! They held hands, hugged, chased each other, and laughed for 2 hours straight. In fact the date was such a success that Mason bought her an ice cream cone and on the drive home he kept saying her name. If he is this much of a ladies man at almost 2, he better start saving for future dates!

Snow Days!

Only a month into this winter season and I cannot believe the difference a year has made in Mason's ability to really enjoy and experience the snow! He is not about to let a little snow stop him from playing outside. I love watching him take on the cold and snowy outdoors all bundled in his winter gear. It is one of the only times he does not put up a fight when I am dressing him, which is surprising because of all the layers I make him wear. One of the most magical things about being a parent thus far has been getting to sit in the passenger seat as Mason drives us through his childhood experiences. I cannot believe how much I have enjoyed watching him embrace life. Nothing makes me happier than watching him as he enjoys all that life has to offer!

2010 was a very busy year for the Pruce Family and I am sure we are all in for a surprise when 2011 becomes our busiest yet! Mason has grown into a little boy with a huge personality and we thank God for him everyday. He has made our lives more incredible than we could have ever imagined and spending every day with him has been a true blessing. I did not know life until he came into mine. I look forward to what 2011 holds for him and the changes he will embark upon. I cannot wait to see his reaction when he realizes there really is baby in Mommy's tummy and she is coming home to live with us! Although I know he will be a loving and protective big brother, I am still anxious to see how he handles this new adventure. 2011 will also be BIG year for Frank as he turns 30 in July! I know his 30's are going to be amazing and cannot wait to see what this year holds for him and how he will embrace having a daughter. I am really looking forward to this year and everything it holds for my family. I am excited to see how our marriage strengthens as we move into our third year, how Mason grows and develops into a little boy and the blessing our daughter will be to all of us. I will continue to keep everyone posted with all of our exciting news and pictures of our upcoming adventures. Happy New Years from our family to yours. Christmas 2010 has come and gone!

Every year I'm amazed at how fast Christmas is over. We spend weeks in anticipation and preparation, then with a snap of our fingers its all done and only a mess left behind! Christmas was very exciting and busy for us this year. My parents came Christmas Eve and stayed through the weekend. We have been so fortunate to have them at our house for the past two years and it has been really special to watch Mason's bond with them grow each visit. He runs to greet them, crys when they leave, then talks about them for days! Franks parents also spent Christmas day at our house so Mason was surrounded by endless love! Frank and I really enjoyed having both sets of parents at our home for the day and we are so lucky to have such amazing families. Although the Grandparents are great, I am pretty sure the highlight for Mason was a quick visit from his cousin Evan! (Aunt Jess and Uncle Kyle were exciting too!) Even though Christmas was a wonderful celebration and a huge success, I am still waiting for my gift and unfortunately she will not be ready until May! At least Christmas will come twice for me in 2011.

We had our 20 week ultrasound today and Baby Girl Pruce is looking healthy and active! She is a lady already, keeping her legs closed through most of the procedure, but fortunately giving us a brief peek for reassurance just as we were finishing. Everything looked perfect and she is already starting to look a little cramped. From now till May she just needs to continue growing and we just need to figure out her name!

Mason on Ice

Mason took his first visit to the ice skating rink today and left wanting more, more, more! He refused to let the skates slow him down and looked adorable in the smallest little skates I have ever seen. He tried to walk on the ice and made a full lap around the rink with Papa's help. His brave disposition and determination surprised me and I am positive he will be ready for skating class in a year with a few more visits to the rink!

Christmas Countdown Begins!

Last night we started off our Christmas celebration with a family dinner date. It was a bold move for us as Mason is not know for his public poise. To our surprise he gifted Frank and I with the ultimate Christmas gift; his best behavior! Luckily the restaurant was buzzing with holiday cheer and this flavorful commotion help distract Mason from the highchair he was "stuck" in. The food was delicious and the company even more delightful! I definitely had the most handsome dates in the room! If this night out was any indication of how the rest of our holiday week will unfold, then we are going to have our best Christmas yet. Stay tuned for more Pruce Christmas cheer!

It wouldn't be a good year without LOVE and Mason's heart was true to only one girl this year... Lanie! She is all he talks about and the only one he wants to be around. I know that I am in for a trouble with this little heart breaker who is finding love before his 2nd birthday but I am sure it will bring for a lot of entertaining stories and laughs along the way. If only all love was this pure and innocent. I look forward to reporting what love finds for Mason in 2011.

How is it that someone so cheerful and jolly can be so scary? I know it took years for me to mustard up the courage to sit on his lap. And it's not a real childhood if you do not have the classic, crying on Santa's lap photo! So far this season, Mason loves talking about Santa but not actually interacting with him. I am sure he will like him much more when he wakes up to all the gifts Santa brings.

Yule Slide at the Children's Museum

The Children's Museum has a very fun and festive Christmas exhibit during the holiday season. It offers Santa visits, a play area and the Yule Slide. Frank has fond memories of class visits to the museum this time of year and has been talking about this slide all year. His build up was not a let down and we all had a wonderful time racing down the slope! Here's a quick video of us going down the slide. It's one of his many trips down!

A GIRL!?!?!

I know these ultrasound pictures are hard to read but that is definitely not a penis!

Who needs a gender confirmation ultrasound when you have a baby gender predictor at home? From the moment we found out we where pregnant Mason has been telling us that he is having a sister. Even after we had an ultrasound that looked like it could be a boy, he was still convinced it would be a sister! Turns out he is wiser than his years because at our appointment today the tech confirmed it is a girl! Although we are excited, I am not quiet sure what we are going to do with a little girl. Luckily for me, I am sure Mason will help me prepare for this very new world we are about to enter.

Pruce Family 2010

This weekend we took advantage of the first Indiana snow and chopped down our Christmas tree. It was a wonderful family experience and we had a great time! Mason loved the freedom of walking around in the snow and lasted on his own for quite a while. It was very hard choosing the "right" tree with so many to choose from and Frank had the hardest time knowing the responsibility of the final cut was in his hands. I really wanted to get pictures of Frank cutting the tree but after 45 minutes in the bitter cold, Mason and I were ready to head back. Mason was excited and a little skeptical with his first up close Santa encounter of the season. Luckily, Santa came prepared with candy canes which scored him major Mason points! All in all it was a great family day and we cannot wait to share it with both kids next year. I really hope everyone can have as much fun choosing their family tree this year!

Mason's Big Annoucement!

Mason Thomas is very excited to announce that this upcoming spring will not only bring the arrival of flowers and outdoor fun but also the arrival of a new baby! He consistently insists he wants a "sisher", even after informing him of all their girly drama! Frank and I are also very excited to meet the newest member of our family and cannot wait to find out if it will be a boy or girl. (Only 4 more weeks!) I have no idea how I will be able to love another baby as much as I love my little Mason but cannot wait to feel all that love. Mason has brought some much joy to our lives and we know that the new baby will be just as amazing! Please keep our family in your thoughts as we come closer and closer to our new arrival and pray for a healthy baby. We will make sure to keep everyone informed with all of our upcoming news!

Trick or Treat!

Mason and Evan teamed up Halloween night for some serious trick or treating! You would have thought they had done this before because these rookies ran from house to house like every other big kid. Once they realized they would get candy at each house... game on! They were absolutely hysterical to watch. Mason made me proud and after a week of practicing, he said trick or treat at almost every door. Evan was quiet and sneaky. He would look at the homeowner very shy and innocent, then take a handful of candy! He must have had some extra coaching from Nana Sue :) The boys would run from the wagon to the front doors, then get back in the wagon for the next. Every time I would turn around, Mason would have unwrapped another piece of candy and had snuck it into his mouth (sneaker!). Evan, on the other hand, just liked to look at all the candy he had collected. By the end of the evening, I think the adults were more tired then the babies! (I know I was!) If the boys were this crazy for Halloween, I cannot wait for Christmas! Mason is so lucky to have a best friend and cousin in Evan. His world would not be half as fun without him.

Gymboree Halloween Party

Sunday Morning we took Mason to his first Halloween party at Gymboree. It was a great way to start off our big day and we really enjoyed the extra family time. Mason jumped, danced, played, decorated a pumpkin and even got to enjoy a snack (his favorite part!) He was also very excited to see that his friend Lucia, or Cia as he calls her, was able to join us in the festivities. He was so tired from all the activities that he took a good long nap when we got home, which prepared him for his big evening. What a great way to start off our day!

Zoo Boo 2010

To kick off our Halloween weekend, Frank and I took Mason to Zoo Boo at the Indianapolis Zoo Friday. Mason was able to wear his costume and collect the first of his Halloween candy! It was the first time we had been to the Zoo in over a year and Mason was in heaven. He LOVES animals and was completely in awe with all he saw. He would run to each exhibit yelling Wow! Animals! There were also a few Halloween activities like pumpkin bowling. After seeing how much he enjoyed our visit, we will have to take another family trip soon.

Haunted House Time

So far our family has really enjoyed the kick off of the fall holiday season. Frank and I have especially enjoyed watching Mason's face light up with wonder as he explores all the new adventures. Today we took him to the haunted house at the Children's Museum and we were both surprise at how brave he was through our tour. Although it was not "scary" hours, it probably would have frightened me when I was his age! He loved checking out all the scary creatures and of course, wanted to touch everything. Although there were a few things that were just creepy enough that he wanted nothing to do with them. It will be fun to watch him experience this exhibit in years to come. We were also able to check out the new Polar Bear exhibit and enjoyed seeing something new. It was very entertaining to watch him because whenever he heard a growl, he would run away yelling "dino"! I will be very busy updating pictures for the next 3 months with all of our exciting adventures!

Yesterday we took Mason to our 2nd Annual visit to the Pumpkin Patch! Nothing says fall more than a pumpkin patch, hayrides, cider and falling leaves but unfortunately the weather thought it was summer. Luckily we arrived early because it was so hot. Mason enjoyed looking for pumpkins, riding the horsey and watching all the people. It was amazing to see how different the experience was for him in only a years time. Last year he couldn't walk on his own and this year he was so busy we couldn't get him to slow down! This year we were even able to convince Grandpa Pruce to join us but I am thinking we might all have to go again so Nana Pruce can come too!

Lil' Kickers!

For the fall, I signed Mason up for Lil' Kickers; a developmental soccer program for kids ages 18 months to 7 years. The best part, in my opinion, is the little uniform he received at his first class. The only thing that could make it any cuter would be shin guards! Mason, at 19 months, is the youngest in his class and although he is short for attention at times, the overall experience thus far has been a positive. He has a young coach who is great with all the toddlers and they get to do everything from run, kick, pop bubbles, play with the parachute and interact with each other. It is similar to his Gymboree classes, which gives him a slight edge, but the main focus is on the team environment and not using their hands. It has also been a great investment into my own fitness plan because I spend most of the class chasing him around! Now whenever we talk about soccer Mason says "kick"! I absolutely love how much he can communicate with me now and how being with him becomes more fun he is each day. Staying home and devoting my life to Mason, while tiresome at times, has been my most incredible life experience.

Annual Pruce Family Vacation!

Then - 2009

Now - 2010!!!

Our vacation this year was in South Haven, Michigan. We all stayed together in a beautiful home and I was really impressed with this small vacation town and all it had to offer. Although the weather was not exactly what we were anticipating, I was welcoming of the cool brisk air! We all toughed out the cold and took a nice family trip to the beach, a couple trips to the park and even a little shopping in town.

Last year our vacation was much more limited due to the young age of the boys but this year we could not get them to slow down! Each morning, the first word out of Mason's mouth was Evan! We were always the first ones up and the anticipation of his cousins big entrance in the morning kept Mason filled with excitement. I know that he loved spending so much time with his best buddy.

It was great to spend so much time with the family and we look forward to next year. I wonder what wonderful changes might happen in the meantime. Thank you Nana and Poppy for a wonderful week!!!

I was amazed that my dirt loving, mess making little boy did not embrace the opportunity to get his hands dirty while finger painting. He was not at all interested with what he was creating on the paper. Instead he was more concerned with getting the paint off his hands! Maybe if we do it more, he will come around. Mason Before and After!

I hate to say this but I think I may actually be an official Indiana girl! Hard to believe, I know but I am going into my 10th year here and that is longer than I have ever lived in any one state. It is about time for me to embrace my surroundings, tap into my inner country and take in all that this fine state has to offer. What better place to start then the Indiana State Fair? It is amazing where motherhood will take you! Frank and I russelled up his family to join us in an evening of country fun and it really turned out to be a great night for all. Mason and Evan were especially entertained watching all the people and fun booths. They even got to feed some animals. We tried to take Mason on a couple of rides and although he was brave, he did say 'all done' most of the ride! I am sure we will have better luck next year. Mason also loved watching the parade and waving to everyone who passed. I am pretty sure, with that wave, there will be many more parades in his future. After hours of walking, talking, looking and eating we were all ready to call it a night and head home. I am fairly certain this will be an day we will all remember for years to come!

Fish Face!

Frank and I took a trip to the childrens museum today with Mason. Our friends Heather and Lucia met us there and Mason was very excited to see them! Frank and Mason had a lot of fun together, running off and playing with everything the museum has to offer. A cast is not going to slow Mason down! We were also pleseantly surprised by the food offerend in the food court. Who knew they would have good quality, healthy alternitives? What a great way to spend a Sunday morning! Now Frank and I can go out and have a great Sunday evening, alone, thanks to Aunt Jess!

Sleep Overs are Exhausting for Everyone!

This weekend Mason hosted his first sleep over and the guest of honor was his cousin/best friend Evan! From the moment Evan arrived our schedule was packed non stop with activities! Some of the highlights for the boys were playing outside in the baby pool, making pizza, playing in Mason's room and going to the spray park the next morning. The boys were SO tired that they both slept soundly through the night and took long naps today. Thankfully last night Nana Sue came over to help me because even with my super mom cape on I was running around trying to keep up with them! Nana Sue and I were ready for bedtime last night!

I think that Evan's favorite part of the sleep over was all the special snacks!

The boys did a great job sprinkling the cheese on their pizzas. Altough I think they got more cheese on the floor than their pizzas!

But when it came time to put the pepperoni on the pizza... the shook their heads no and ate the pepperoni instead!

This morning we all work up early and Frank and I took the boys to breakfast and the park. They had a great time! Oddly, we were the only people at the spray park for about 30 min so the boys were able to enjoy everything to themselves. One thing I know for sure... we will all sleep well tonight! Thank you Aunt Jessica and Uncle Kyle for letting Evan spend the night.
